New Border Crossing into Nicaragua from Costa Rica

Border Crossing

spacer

Traveling between Nicaragua and Costa Rica by road will become even easier for visitors in 2014 with the development of the Santa Fe Bridge, which is scheduled to open later this year. The bridge, which will span 1,181 feet, is located in Los Chiles and is 97 percent complete. Per Nicaragua’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, the Santa Fe Bridge will help decongest the present border at Peñas Blancas, located in Rivas, and increase commercial border crossing efficiency between the two countries.

Facilities for customs and immigration will be available along the bridge. This $30 million project is being completed in cooperation with the Japanese Government and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
